the record of 5 English representative clubs, in the Champions League

New record is created in the last 16 of the Champions League season 2017-2018. England became the first country to include five of its representatives in the first round of Champions League knockout phase.

The last English club to qualify was Liverpool on Wednesday (6/12/2017). The Reds made sure to qualify after a landslide victory over Spartak Moscow at Anfield Stadium.

A day earlier, Manchester United also confirmed to qualify for the knock-out phase after beating CSKA Moscow 2-1.

On the fourth matchday, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have already secured themselves in 16 places.

This is the first incident in history when there are five clubs from one country qualifying for the knockout phase of the Champions League.

Before this, the maximum number of representatives who can qualify is four clubs.

There are only three countries capable of sending four clubs at once to a knock-out phase in a Champions League season.

They are Spain (2003-2004, 2008-2009, 2012-2013, 2016-2017) and England (2004-2005, 2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2010-2011).

In addition, Germany has also contributed the same thing in the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons.

Proud results for these English League teams should be a bit tarnished, through a match between Manchester City with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Man City who have made sure to escape the round of 16 must receive the first defeat in this season when losing from Shaktar with a score of 1-2.

here is a club that definitely qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League.
